Tasual County Va [1] April the 18. 1862
Dear Father this will i[n]form you that I am
well at this time & hope when thes few lines
comes to hand thay may find you all in the
same state of helth pa this will also inform
you that we are i Burks garden I & A.J. Porter
to night will Stay with Mr Meak a brothern law
of P. B. snapp & I will State that we are put a foot
& we will leave our horses in the garden & March a
afoot to Prinston & cant say how long we will
remain thare I heard Lieutenant Sheffy say yester
day that we wouldent Stay thare more than
weaks & he also said that we was orderd to
Tennessee, pa I dont like the thought of walking
but I reckon I will haft to face the music
pa I begun thes lines yesterday evening I Stated
where we were going to Stay we were vary kindely
received & treated like genteelman pa we dont get
k[n]ow [2] good meals unless we gow to aprivate hous
I have nothing of intrest to write at present
this is the fourth letter I have writteen home &
have never rcievd any anseer yet I dont know wether
you have wrot or not, pa we are going to leave our hors[es]
in the garden in the car[e] of some five or six of the compny
To take cear of them pa I will close by asking
you to write & let me know how your are getting along
with your work Direct your letter to Prinston Mercer
