Dear Sir yours of
the 5th Ultimo is to hand and I respond
we are all well with the exceptions of Orderly
who have been complaining evey sence he left
the armey, he is gon with his horse at this
time, hop he is some better As they have nothing
transpired of recent interest I have nothing to
communicat that would be calculated to
interest a Soldier. be it as it is I will poseed
to give you what liitle I know We have had
a tremendous hail Storme which have almost
runed a great many farmers. it have runed
paps corn and damedged his wheat a great deel
And in fact every thing is damedged Garden
vegitalles and fruit of all kinds are beaten
in to the ground It hasen’t extended far in
legth but pretty lengthy. My corn was ingerd
Some by it but it diden’t hurt any thing in our
Garden sercely So you may persieve that it went
in a Streek So anough on the Storm Subject
It has been raining Secescently to day and I am
going a fishing this evening I think I’ll have fish for Breakfast

letter not knowing that the war is going on this is
fine times, Espesialy these critcal war times although
I am glad to here that yous are faring so well
I Suppose you hird of the Serrender of Winchestra the
papers State that old Ewull is giving them fits he
is almost a Second Jackson tis thought that he is in
Mayrland Col Dungan’s started for his Regt
last Monday if the armey is in Mayrland
he will have Some trouble to get there he will be in
danger of the enamy this leves all well hop
it may find yous all well I must close
By asking you to Excuse bad writeing and
write often your self and Stretch your letter alittle
