Tullahoma Tennessee March the 15th
1863 Miss S. J. Honnoll
Dear and affectionate friend an
oppertunity having offered for me to
to answer your letter which was
gladly but unexspectely receaved yesterday
I write you these fiew lines which
leaves me well and as well satisfied
as one could exspect under the
sircumstances for come what will
I am determined to content my self
and be satisfied I have nothing to
write worth a ladys attention no
news that ther is any cirtainty
in plenty of skirmishing along the
line every day some times Resulting
in our favor and theirs again
aganst us as to when ther will be
a gineral ingagement I am not
prepared to say thou I think
probly ther will be about the first
of Aprile the boys are all in fine
spirits and seam to be ready to
try the ranks at anytime

healthe of the Troops is very good
no sickness scearsly attal plenty
to Eate and plenty to ware –
Dear friends you tell me sorrowfully
that Miss Andrewse is Married
to Mr Journigan now I want
you to tell me if it was that old
brute of a Journigan that use to
whip his wife when I was in that
country if this is so I Loved hear
just enough to pitty hear but
thank the kind redeamer there
is one still Left for me as I
all wais thaut that Nancy was
the prettiest any how you will not
be surprised at my saying so
now Tell her if she will waite
till the war is over and I Should
Live I will fetch her a soldier my
self but then I am one of those cowardly
Tennesseans or so caled by some of
the Missippi brothering

and in deade it is suid that Tennessee
has not done her part in this greate
struggle for life and Liberty but I
will leave this question to be decided
by the history of the caice I can
only say that I am proud to no that
I belong to one Tennessee Regim.
which is considered the standerd Regt
of the division to which it belong
and Bers upon its banner the Names
of Shiloh Perryville and murphersb
orouh and is now waiting to add
another Larrel which I have no dout
it will do on the Next Battlefield
I wish you to write to me on the
Reception of this letter and do not
fear but what it will be Recieved
gladly and you can tell Ann to
write and then she will not be
pestering you looking over your
sholder when you are writing tell
