Camp Wood march 28th 62

At mumfordsville Ky

Dear mother I thought I would
let you know where I am at
we are on the banks of Green
River where Cal Willich had
the fight with the texan Ranger
I am well at Presant except
my face which has swelled up
but it is getting better now
we were paid off last night
I got $35.50 I will send with this
letter $20.00 of my own money
$10.00 of John Bouners money
his aunt lives on Fifth street
between Spring and Elm right
opposite Billy Wells house
give it to his aunt tell her he
is well and hearty tell her
not to write untill John write

James Byland sends
$10.00 to his mother he is well
and hearty I will send it
to her Crane I think it will be better for you to get it
I send $40.00 in all
