Dear Mother
I thought I would
write to you today
to let you know that
I sent some money
home yesterday
I sent $45.00 in all I sent it
in the care of mr Crane
so you would be more sure
of getting it. There is $20.00
for you $15.00 for Mrs Byland
and $10.00 for Mrs Bounder from
John. we are all well at preat
we have had very pleasant
weather the last 4 or 5 days
we are camped on very good
dry ground which is quite
a treat for we have been
[page 2]
living in the mud ever since
we left the fair grounds
I had the bad luck to lose
my Pocket Book and Ten dollars
yesterday all the money I had
Kept for my use untill next Payday I went up town for
some medicine for Leut
Bard on my horse and lost
it where I got on my horse
which is a fine fractious
animal and is some trouble
to get on without a saddle
she started before I got fairly
on and then is when I
suppose I lost it but it is
gone I cant help it as
accidents will happen sometimes
They brought arms out here
for us but we would not take
them except one company
[page 3]
which I think wishes they had
not taken them for they
got a good hissing it made
them ashamed of themselves
I do not know what we will
do now. Give my Respects
to all the frends
your Respy
