barberville Ky july the 27 1862
Dear brother I take my pen
in hand to write you a few wor[ds]
to let you know that I am well
at present I hope this letter may
find you well I havent much to
write to you only I woud like
see you very well you dont know
how glad I would be to see you
and all the rest of the family and
all my enqiring friend where ever
they may be I cant till you
any thing about when we will
all git home I thought I would
home this fall but I give up that
notion I think it will be a many
a day before the wore will close I
am afraid well I will qu[i]t for
this time I want you to write as
soon as this come to hand good by
