barbervill Ky july 28 1862
Dear sister I take my pen
in hand you a few words to
inform you that I well at
present I hope when these few
lines comes to hand they may
find you good health I received
your letter and was glad to here
from you the wether is very
hot and dry and I am gitting
tired of writing I havent very
much to write I would be glad
to see you all but the Lord
only knows when the wor will be
over but I am well satisfied to
say till it is over I s[t]ill live in
hope of giting home soo[n]er or later
well I must come to a close I want
you to write as soon this comes
to hand give my love and best
respects to all the girls and boys
and tell them that I havent forgoten
them yet and tell them to not thin[k]
hard of me for not writing to them
for I have a bad chance to write so
[no] more at this time
