pleisure that I take
my pen in hand to
let yo no that I receivd
yore kind leter the
fourth of this month
and was glad to hear
from yo yore leter found me
wel the last time I rote
to yo we was expecting
the rebles to come on
us tho we dont hear
any thing A bout them
now only Some gurillas
that is Scouting round
throw the woods and
our forage trains gets
after them evry time
tha go out yo Said that

and he was wel I was
glad to hear that and
Sorrow to hear that
tha was Scairse of
provision for we hav
had the trile of that
we was one week that
we had nothing to eat
only A tin ful of meal
A day and had to make
mush out of that
and no Salt to pit in
that I hav rote to Jim
twist cince I came here
and hav not got one from
him wel must close
my few lines I wil rite
more next time I hav plenty
of paper and inveleps tho no stamps
