Dear Sister once more
I take my pen in
hand to answer your
kind and welcom leter
which I recieved the
Second day of this month
and wold hav answered
it Sooner tho while
we was a at ackworth
I got A leter from
lidy and She Said
She had not got A
leter for so long
I thot I wold rite
to her first we left
ackworth yester day
and marcht ten miles
towards atlanta wher
we look for A hard
fite thair ar at the

river which is three
miles from here and
A ten miles from the
river to Atlanty we ar
Just wating here til
our cavelry can find
out if their is any
reble force this Side
of the river and then
we wil start on to
meat the reble foe
again while we was at
ackworth I was over
to the Sixth regment
I saw Sam kemp and
some of the other new
burn boys tho I did
not Get to see Jim he
was gon back with
the team and he wold
not get back til

night I was sorrow
that I cold not get
to See him tho the
boys sais he is
wel and devlish as
ever you said that albert
got that litle book
I was glad to hear that
and wold hav bin glad
to get his leter tho I
did not I expect Some
of my leters was sent
to the batery and I did
not get them for
lidy Sais she had not
got any for so long
and I answer evry leter
I get and wish I could
twice as meny as I do
for I like to hear
from home tho I like

like to be at home
and get to see al
my friends once more
and I hope this war
wil soon be over and
then the soldiers can
al come home wel I
wil close hoping to
hear from you again
