Catherine to day I write to you from
Louisville Kentuckey we left camp morten
night before last at ten oclock and got here last
eavening we are in camp one mile south of town
on very nice peace of ground be longing to
general Buckner we burned about two thousand rails
to cook our supper & break fast with it looks bad to
burn the fence from round a mans farm but such is war
I do not know how many men there is here but I can
see lots of tents I do not know how long we will
stay here there is talk of us going to Bowling green
in this state but we may not go there it is
un certain where we will go you can direct your
letters to Louisville Ky 97 Regt Ind vol care
of Capt Axtell we are all well and in good [Andrew Jackson Axtell, Co A 97th]
heart I will write to you again soon but it
may be from adifferent place from this I would like
to hear from home before I leave here
Rest easy about me for I will take care of
My self so good by for the present
