Mos cow April the 19 th 1863 this is the Sabbath and
a nice morning last night we had a very hard rain and wind
I was a fraid our tent would turn over but it stood the storm
and all is write this morning we left the fort day before yesterday
and come to this place all but three companies we left to gard the
fort I dont know what we was brought here for there is three
Regts here and one battery this is a very nice place the town is
a bout the size of solsberry Catherine I got a letter from you
last night I get a letter from you every saturday I got a letter
from <???> and one from Jane steel yesterday I am so glad to
to get to hear from home every weak your letter was mailed the
10th and I got it the 12 I wish you could get mine so quick I write
to you as soon as I get your letter I wish you had wrote who was elected
in back creek this spring the next letter you write I want you to let
me know if there is any signs of fighting there some of the boys gets
letters that states that there will be fighting there but I dont know
whether it is so or not for you never say any thing a bout it I am
a fraid there will be trouble there by the way the election went for they
will fight for the side they vote for I wish your father would write
me all the nuse Wm got a letter yesterday he is down at the fort with
the most of our company they went down yesterday I sent the letter to
him to day I dont know who it was from I was sorry to hear of Aunt
being sick for I dont know what they will do with out her for she is
the mane stake in fence and all I want to know how your stock is getting
a long write all you can think of it does me good to hear any thing that
comes from home there has been a good deal of talk of the boys getting
furlows this summer but I dont know whether they will get any or
not if they do I will get one and come home for I want to see

you all the best in the world if we was to stay here this summer
I think we would get furlowed home but if we have to move
from here I think the chance is bad I dont know what is going
on for we dont get but little nuse here I saw thirty prisners
go by here yesterday in the cars they said there was a bout forty
more be hind to come on the next train they was taken east of
here there is Prisners goes by nearly every day they are taken to
Memphis and I dont know where they are sent from there
Wm Henry Carmicheal died Night be fore last with the fever
he was fifer in Carmicheals company he was a good boy but
he is gone from his friends it makes one feel sad to see
one laid in the ground so fare from home and friends but
you can see graves where ever the soldiers goes they are
Jenerally buried in a strait plank box with there Blanket
wraped around them to day is sunday some is playing cards
for money some is playing the fiddle and some is writing home to
there wives and children with there eyes so full of tears that
that they can hardly see the line as for my part I dont see
any signs of this war ending soon iff I stay my three years out
I will not be surprised Me and Hen and William is well
I was weighed this morning my weight is 152 lbs we are all in
good heart and gets plenty to eat and wear the boys is all talking
of sending there over coats home and some has sent them it is
getting s hot that we cant carry them if we have to march our coats
is good yet and I hate to throw mine a way if I could get a
furlow I could fetch mine I must close for this time
I will still write every weak to you while I am where the
mail goes but when we move we cant write until we stop
