Dear Catharine I will write
you a few lines to let you know
how I am getting a long we have
marched over two hundred miles since we
left Memphis and have stoped
here to day to get rations I dont
know how long we will stay here
I think we will go to chatanuga
from here it is a bout seven
ty five miles from here
my health is good and Hen
& Wm is well it dont hurt
me to march our regt is in
tolerable good health and is
getting <better> <??> <???> <????> [creased and faded at fold]
a very broken <????> country
and the best watered country
I ever saw in my life I hear
but little nuse for a long
time the last letter I got
from you was dated the 10

of last month if we stay
on this road we can soon get
our letters for the cars runs
from here to Louisville Ky
every day I dont hear any talk
of furlowing but I think they
will as soon as we get in the winter
quarters it is getting tolerable
cool here the water frose last
night for the first time if
we stay here this winter we
will be apt to have some
cold weather I will not
write any more at this time
but will write as soon as
I know where we will stop
