the Rebs has taken a position
on what is called lost mountain
and I expect will be hard to
moove from that place but we
have a large force here and if
they stand there will be hard
fighting done here our men has
fixed the railroad up as fast
as we advance and this eavening
the cars come to this place I
dont no what to write to you for
I have no nuse that is strange

Regt the boys is in good heart
and thinks they can whip Johnson
a gain I have got three letters
from you since I come to the

have to quit writing for I

 between here and Chattanooga

Heifer that is at the Abramses if
you can Proove her I would
swear she is mine I will Pay
any thing in reason for her and
pay the money for getting her
wintered she will soon be a cow
and I think a good one I am
with the Regt a gain and am
well and hearty I hope I will
stand it now I think we are
going to have hard marching to
do before long I dont know
where Hoods army but the 4th
 14th & 23 Corpes is after him
 [page 4]
  I think the 15 & 17 & 20 Cores

where to if you dont get to
hear from us a gain soon dont
be uneasy a bout us for we
may be where we cant get
