of us yet and has been for the last
thirteen days there is fighting going
on all the time day and night I can
see the flash of ten rebbel cannon
from here they are on top of the
Kenisaw Mountain a bout three
miles from here our Division is
held as reserve if any place
gives way a long the line we will
have to help them we are loosing
a good many men and so are they
some times I hear the roar of nearly
a hundred cannon at a time but
[page 2]
they dont kill men like the musket
does I dont know how long this fight
will last here but I think the rebs
will not stand much longer we have
taken a good many prisners and their
has a good many come in and gave them
selves up they say they are out of
heart our boys has been sent
with all that was wounded they
was all doing very well when they left
here Catharine dont be uneasy
or trouble a bout me for it will
do no good I hope that I will get
home safe yet tell Alvin & Ira
& sis that I have not forgot how
sweet they all was tell them to
be good children until I get home

end the war we have had lots of
rain here for the last three weaks
but it is clear to day we have
not got any tents with nor hant
