Dear wief I Seat my Self this morning
to drop you a few lines to Let you noe how I am
getting a long I have bin unwell for [s]everal
days but I am well at this time hopeing
these lines will find you and the childering
well I have no nuse to rite of any importance
I rote you a letter a Sunday & Sent it to you buy
Sam worthey wich you will get this morning
I rote more than I should have rote about
not Sending me a box & if I had have had
the letter back after I sent it I would not
have sent it if I rote any thing in it that
hurts your feellings you must forgive
me for it for I did not in tend to hurt your
feelings you rote to me you wanted to [know] who
I was in a mess with I am in a mess

as I Shall stay with it for thare is getting
to many in it it has bin cloudy rainy
weather for over a week but it Clear today

heard from home by him but he told
me he did not see any off you I will give
you the prices of things her Sweet potatoes 20 cts a quart
to mattoes 30 cts a qurt peaches 40 cts a dozen
Butter one dollar a pound & chicken 1 one
dollar a piece Small Sise beans any price
tha ask for them rosting Ears 10 cts a
a piece and any thing that is to eat
acording if a man gets a drink of Brandy it is 50 cts
Since Mr Mcclarity has got in to the
commisary we draw a nuff beaf such
as it is wee have no way to cook
only to boil it as fere as fish is concern
we can get plenty but grease to fry
them I roast sum ever now then
I want you to rite to me soon
and as often as you can convenantly
so I must come to a close so
no more only remain your affectionet
