Flordia Oct 6 1862
Dear Margaret I seat my self to rite
you a gane we started the time I rote you
wich was Saturday morning 4 Oclock we marched
to Savannah [by?] 9 on the Gulf Rail Road
and went on that Road 205 miles to a place
called Groverville in Brooks County Ga
& thare we got off and marched to Mounteciller
in Floridia wich is 25 miles we made the march
in 9 hours it like to have made me give it up
and at Montteciller we taken the
cars a gane at sundown and landed here
at day brake this morning we have to go
on to Jacksonville wich is about one 150
miles from here we start in a bout 30 minutes
we here tha are fighting thare big fashion
we will get thare a bout 4 Oclock this Eavning
you nead not rite to me untel you here
from me a gane I will rite a gane the
first opportunity we will be sure to have
sum fighting to day if the yanks dont go
back ther Gun Boats be fore we get thare
So fere well Margaret for the present you
must exscuse bad riting for I had to do it in
