Dear Husband I
Seat my self this morning to drop you a few
lines to let no that we are all as well as common
and hope it will find you enjoying good health
it has been just two weeks today since I wrote to you
for I did not know where to write I got your letter
you wrote at Lake Cittey & two you wrote near
Jacksonville I am mighty glad you did’nt have to
stay in Florida I never was as glad in my
life as when I heard you was back at Savanah
I have got the Keg & Oranges you sent me I am
sorry what I sent you spoilt you be particular
with that brandy we could sell some of the brand[y] [1]
here at 8 dollars a gallen having it here keeps me
there very close I went to meeting last Sunday
the only time I went in time of their big
meeting it commenced last thursday night was
a week ago and helt on until Sunday night
there was baptizing last Sunday lots has joined
this meeting Alaxander has joined on
probation Nat Humphres & lots others , I had
a powerful spell the mor[n]ing I started your
trunk Mrs Bowen> was here she give me one
stuff and other untill I got better I never was
as sick in my life but I have been getting better
ever since Mr White if you can get Indigo
cheap there get me some it cant be got here at no
price Coperas is 2 $ a pound there is about 8 $ dollars
of that last money you sent we cant get of
Jo is going to Marietta to day he will bring that
Salt I got a half bushel at Campbellton for
one dollar there is to be more let out to the Soulder
wives I can get a bushel for 4 $ if it is attende
to all Soulders wives that lives in the
County can get thread at 2 ½ bunch I got two
bunches last week but I let nancy have one it

looked like I couldnt get round it I know
all citizens has to pay 5 $ a bunch for thread
I ought to keep it myself to made clothes for the
children but I know I thought I ought to let
her have it but it will be the last for they dont
accommodate [no one?] there is a heap of
curious people in this world I could tell you a
heap I dreampt I saw you last night I hope you
will get to come home before long Gus stone
brought me a letter he come here and got your
horse to ride home I will send you a pair of
Shoes and Socks by him I forgot to tell you that
they have got their new metting house about done
Masson stayed all night at Summerlins in time
of the meeting and come by here to see me he
was inquiring about you I told him that it
was your request for him to remember you he
said that he would and that he would like to
see you there will be preaching at the new metting
house nearly every Sunday Old Mr Wick told
me when I wrote to give you his respects there
has been a powerful fight in Kentuckey lately
I have seen no account of it myself but Jo said
he saw the list of the
killed & wounded of Capt Bowens company
killed Jim Abbot (Tuckers son in law) Wond
John Sewel Gus Brown . Jo says as well as he
reccollets Jim Mcclarty John Cochram
Neal Stones (Son in law) Freeman Wiley Maulden
wounded in the Shoulder Wiley Humphreys
in both shouders Bob Joiner in the face Jo
Acock killed or wounded Jo has forgot which
One of the Newborn boys wounded in the knee
Col Mcdannel thigh broke Bowen is now
Col & John Pettergrass is Capt Isrial Causeys
Substitute was killed & I have heard that John Right
was killed the last account of wade was the
6th of thist month he was cut of[f] from his

company & had been in the mountains for
fore days and nights [without?] any thing to [2]
eat but thought he would get through that
day Lovet Teal & Tom Bomer was wounded in
the last manassas Battle and have since died and
buried side by side in virginia I could write you
a heap more but Jo is wating to start to Marietta
Sister Susan is here she brought a peice of [down?]
and is weaving it she send her respects to you
she says she will write again when you
write to Pa & her you wrote you wanted to
know how Cissey come on talking she can say
a heap of things plain as you or I and trys to
say every thing she is told you would laugh if
you could here her trying to tell me or the rest
of the children I hear her calling Ruben now
she is at the kitchen the children all wants to
see you mighty bad Zippy talks about you often [3]
I tell you I seen and uneasy time while you
was gone to Florida I couldnt rest no way
I wish I could see you I know I want to see
you worse than you do me Surely it wont be
long until I can see you I will write again
in a few days you must write often take care
of your self I am your ever affectionate wife

You must excuse bad writing for my pen
and ink is so bad I can hardly write at all

as to what you wrote about sometime ago
you know what I know you was just a
joking about it & to see what I would say
I know you are to much of a gentleman for
that I hope we will meet soon & hope you will
not have to leave there to go no where I expect
Peter Turner was in that last fight the last

his folks has heard from h[?] he was with
Bowen company they have got no letter since
you went of[f] so I hear I could write more
but Jo is waiting for this to start to Marietta
