Dear Margaret
I Seat my Self to night to drop you
a few lines this leaves me well hopeing
it will find you and the childering
well I have bin at work vey hard to
day a building a commissary and am
very tireed ever thing quiet about here
no more demonstrations by the enemey
I have not got any thing to rite that
would interrest you at tall I rote you by
Dr Maxwell wich you will get befor this
I rote you to sell the ballenc of the
Brandey but dont do it now it will
be a heap higher then it is now
So dont sell it Just keep it untel
you here from me about it I told the
Dr to shoe you how I wanted you to make
my Coat that and put Stripes on the
pants the weather is quite cold here
big white frost ever morning I dont
see but what it is as cold here
appearently as it is up there but tha
say here that this has bin a remarkable
cool fall I need my over coat thes
nights when I am standing gard
I was on gard last Monday night
and I got very cold shore

the [folks?] are a doing a bout the
conscripes I have bin looking for sum
of them down here rite me how much
wheat you have sold and how [many] hogs
you have got a fatting and how fat tha
are I want you to faten one for
me rite soon so more ony remain
