Camp Young Nere Savannah Ga
Dear wief I Seat my Self
this Eavning to write you a few lines
to let you noe that I am well hopeing
these lines will find you all engoying
the Same blessing I have not got
much of importance to write ever thing
is quite here at this time the report
is the yankey Fleet has gone back towards
Charlston if it is true I would not
be supprised if we did not have to go
on thare two before long thare is a
great many Troops here now thare is
two brigades here from Wilmington North
Carolina the yankeys attacked Fort
Mcalester last Tuesday morning with
4 Iron clads Boats and kep up
up a contineal bombardment untel
wendsday morning done but very
little damage only wounding 2 of
the men The fireing on both Sides
was terrifec the Guns keept up
almost one continual Roar like
Claps of Thunder but we have herd
so much of it it is nothing new to
us

John Danforth will be here in the morning
I shall go to meet him at the Depo sorter
with the hopes that you will be with him
but I cant say that I have much grounds to look
for you from the way you rote last
but however I am still in
hopes that you will come to see me
for you noe thare is no chance for me
to get to come to see you you noe
thare is 2000 Troops here now as State Troops
tha go here by the name of Joe Browns
Pets Tha are Just for States service
I think as soon as the excitement
gets over on the cost will go sum
where elce I exspect to Tennissee or
to Mississippi it looks like now that the
Yankeys are determined to wip us any
[how?] I think from all circumstances
thare is going to be the hardest fighting
now soon that ever has bin I think
it will be Simultainous attack or at
Fredricks burg va charlston SC or (mabe
Savannah) Murffeysburro Tenn and
at Vicks burg Miss the General impreshion
is that if we can hold our hands with
them at all these places that it will
decide the war but tha [whip?] us out at
any of these places tha will renue the
war with double viger and there is noteling
how [thas?] fights will go

when theas fight come on tha [are?]
going awful fighting if rosencrants [1]
backs brag I exspect we will have [2]
to go amediately it is Sunday
and I have no opportunety of
going to Town or I would send
them sumthing the next one that
pases Kiss little Cissey for me Tell Budy
and Zippa tha mus be Smart and go to
Scool and I will Send them Sum
