Camp nere Easonville Yazoo County Miss
Dear wief I Seat my self this
morning to drop you a few lines
to let you noe where I am & how I am getting
a long this leaves me well hopeing these few
lines will find you and the childering well
I am getting anccious to here from you
I have not heard from you since the 29 of
April wich is Just one month to day we have
bin lying here at this camp for the last
3 days resting but from the signs of the times
I dont think we will stay here aney longer
I got my shirt drawers washed yesterday the
first time I ever had to ware a coat for a
shirt we are 18 miles from yazoo cittey in a
prettey shadey grove but the warter beats any
thing I ever Saw in my lief I never Emagined
that people ever had to drink as mean warter
The cittisens Say it is good to what it will
be after a while Tha use cistern warter
all the time but we can not get that
I got off from Camps yesterday and went to
a house & got a regler old fashion boil
diner it went down well to the rashions
we draw is compareitively nothing we do get
a nuf bread but that is about all

Thare is a big force of yankeys at yazoo citty and a
round Vicksburg thare is no end to them Thare
has bin big fighting ever day or two Thare

I think I rote you about the 41 Ga regt & 56th Regts
getting cut up so the 56th is Col Wadkins the one that
John Wright is in I have not heard nothing more
from them the yanks have fell back 40 miles from
Jackson from all reports the greatest slaughter that ever
has bin was at Vicksburg last fryday saturday & sunday
our forces wont let the yanks berry there dead
when you write Dirrect your letter to
Jackson Miss 30th Ga Regt Walkers Brigade Genl Walker
has bin permoted to mag Genl I dont noe who will
be our Brigadeer Genl in Walkers place
soon as I find out I will write you I have no
assureance that I will get a letter from Jackson
but I will stand a chance any how you write
I may get it you noe I want to here from you I have dreamp
for the two last night of seeing Budey & Zippa kiss little
ciscey for me I must close so no more only remain your
