Yazoo Citey Miss June 27 1863
Dear wief I Seat my Self to night to drop
you a few lines to send by Mr Woodall I am
here at the Hospittle yet getting on tolerable well
hopeing this will find you and the childering
all well I am Still assisting the ward master
I dont noe how long I will Stay here I may
Stay here untel this Hospittle brakes up or I ma
go of[f] in a day or two the Hospittle will Brake up
as soon as what patients that is here gets well as tha
are not sending any more Sick here tha are
Sending them further off from the seene of action
I have not got no answer to nare a letter that
I have wrote you Since I have bin out here
and I noe that I have wrote you dosen or
more and I want to here from you the worst I
ever did in my lief I noe and as for wanting
to see you no body never did want to see a
nother one as bad as I want to see you and
the childering and I hope it wont be long untel
I will get to see you I have bin looking
for a letter from father untel I have
almost give out him writing at all sum
times I think ma be the reson I dont get
no letter from home that he is comeing
Soon with [??] a Substitute and I [still?]

it ma be posible that he never got the letter
that I rote him by hargraes and I am in
great susspense to noe what to depend on
I Should not have stayed here as long as I
have if it had not bin with the exspectation
of him comeing our forces are still at vernon
what tha are waiting so long fer I cannot
tell tha are fighting about vicksburg ever
day now thar never a day but I here the
cannons roaring thare ever day I think [und???]
our forces will make a forward move ment soon
I dont think that Johnson likes to make the
attack much I here it reported that Johnson has
bin reenforced Laregely lately with Tropps from
Tennessee Alford Nixon is at home yet when
he comes try and get him to bring me a suit
of close and my Shoes you must keap writing
mabe I will get a leter from you sum
time my lite is bad and its getting late
so I will close Mr Woodall will bring you
this letter and he can tell you what the prospects
are out in these parts so no more only remains
