Dear margaret I Seat my Self to drop
you a line this leaves me well hopeing
it will find you all well to day is two
weeks since I left home and have not
got no letter from you yet I am getting
mighty anceious to here from you I
cannot emagine the cause the time apers
long to me I want to here from you
verry Bad Inclosed you will find 3 finger rings
One for Zippa & one for Budey and one for
Pappas little Red headed girl the Smallest
one is for her I emagine I can see her
when she gets it tell them to keap them
in rememberence of ther papa if you send
that Lignumvita I will have them Sum [2]
more made thare is Sum big movement
on hand her I dont no what it means sum
thinks tha are going to send us to Richmond
va. others thing thare will be a big fight
here in a very few days I dont noe what the
movement will be I noe thare is sumthing
considerable in voge I wish you could
be here on to morrow thare is to be a big
Sham Battle fought here to morrow with

all of our forces I can here the yankeys
fighting Sham fights ever day or two
it is my impresion that thare will be a fight
her in reality befor many days if the weather
stays like it is I Shal express my box to you
to morrow to Marietta I Shall Send my over coat & wescoat
then I will have as much then as I will
want to toat when we have to march we
draw plenty of meal and verygood meal
& that is all we draw plenty of we are drawing
Bacon now 1/3 of a pound a day and Sum
times peas & Rice our gard duty is pretty
hevey & drill twice a day thare is not much Idle
Bread eat here Sure I want you to come
& See me after a while if we stay here
and you can come to me 12 hourse any
time by starting from home at the right
time and will not cost by ten dollars
and if times is peaceable tha will giv a man
a pass to go to a citisens house 3 or 4 days
when his wief come to See him you noe thare
is no telling how long we will Stay here
and if are ordered to va that will be to far
for you to go So no more only remain your
