Mr S J lazenby Dear friend I take this
opportunity to try to drop you a
fieu lines as I prommast you that I
would wright to you but I hav a bad
chance to wright I am on duty every
day I have bin at work to day and I am
verry tiard but I will do the best
I can under the circumstances this leavs
me well at this time I hope this may
find you and all the familey well
we hav a great menny Sick in Camps
henry is well as common I told him to
wright to you as you ast me to do the
figh[t]ing was all over before I got hear
henry was not in it we lost one man
out of our company on the battle field
we have lost too sence columbus
heath and levi ivey we hav hard times
hear though we get a nuff to eat
surch as it is we cant get no peaches
and appels to eat we have to give
one dollar and tuenty five sence
a pound and money is verry scars hear
the lands are verry rich hear I
think that the wheat crops are a
great deal better than tha are
in georgia corn is not as forred as tha
are in georgia thare has bin a great
deal of Corn distroud hear by the
Soildiers and stock runing over it
