Dear Wife and famley I am in beter helth then
I have bin ceince I have bin in camps before and
I am t well at this time hoping that these
few lines May find you all well and doing well
and well Satisfide we are not Musterd in to Sirves
yet but thay Say we will be a Saturday but when
Saturday comes I am afrade it will be the next
Saturday tha ceap puting us off to ceap us out
of our money tha was 10 of our compney Sent
home on a furlelo last friday and will Return Back
tomorrow and than the next parsel will be drafted
out to go home tha is so meny awanting to go that
the offersers thinks it best to draft them I did not
Intend to come til I was Musterd in Sirves and
got my bounty if I ever git eny I want you to
Rite how you all are Docter OCelley in our
Compney Ses I have got the nettel rash I have
bin taken powders and pills from him ever cence
I have bin hear but it dos me no good you may
look for a letter from me ever mail day while
I stay heare and Some times 2 if nothing hapens
I Send you a Song balled it is Sung to a noted
tune but I Cant tel you how to find it I am
agoing as soon as I git abel to get me a note Book
& a him Book & a testement I want you to ceap
all the letters that I Send home we are all
formed in to Ridgements we are the 42 Ridgement

of the gorgia volen tears and had the
honor of being plast at the head of the Ridgement
but our Captain give it to captain Thomas
& he dun it contraey to the wish of his Compney
the comney is all letterd the head of the Ridgement
is A the Second that is ours is B the 3 C the 4 D
and So on I do not no when i will be
at home if I git the chance if tha draft me before
I git my Bounty I hant got mone a nuff to fetch me
home so if I have to wate til I git it it may be
that tha wont let me come we have had to
by a barrel to put sirrup in & a pair of Stilyards [1]
& a Sifter & a coffey Mill it all takes money
that the way tha intend to git our fifty dollars
back I have to go on duty So
farewell to you all tel the children to
be good & go to School & learn all tha can
