I must tell you of what I saw
April the 2 We was all orderd to
march to asirten place to see a
man Shot the hole Brigade
was cald to gether & that was
a show without any thing els
after we was formed in a three
Square tha come in a wagon with
a coffin & a man a setting on it
the grave had bin dug to See
a man a Seting on his own cof
fin it was auful but he was
took to the place of exacution
whare we could all See him & thare
he got out of the wagon & tha took
out his coffin & then the ginrel
Red the charge he had causd
a lutennent to be kild he
had not kild him him self
bus causd it to be done after
the charge was Red he was orderd
to Set down on his coffin & was
blind folded & twelve men to

to Shoot him but onley Six
to fier at a time & half of them
was blank catredges at the
cracks of the gunes he fell ove[r]
& made but a few moves with
his handes he never made
a grone tha was 2 balls went
through his brest near his hart
& one through his neck the
other Six never got to Shoot
& I doant think tha was sorrey
he had all chances to Run but
the gard was cloce by but if
it had bin a cace of mine tha
would a had to a Shot me on
the wing fur if I hadent a flew
tha would a thought I was giting
away I Rote to you about the North
Carolina Discharge & this is the
tennessee dis charge witch do
you like best he was a tennesean
I do hop & trust that gorgia
will never have to Regret the
deth of a soldr in that way tell
the children all howdy fur
me tel them to do Rite
So good by a gain I
