My Dear wife I imbrace the present
oppertunety of Riting you afew lines
to inform you that I am tollearbul
well I have had a bad Coff for too or
3 days and monday nite I Coft my Self
prety well to deth and was liying in my
tent hardley abel to Stand and I told
John to ansur to my name and when
my name was cald he told them that
I was lying in my tent and tha put
me on dubbel duty and William kirkus
noes that I ansurd to his name and
Reprorted him when tha did not a damd
thing alded [1] him and I never will do it 
again as long as I Stay in Camps I Stood
tel 10 OClock at nite when the drum beat
fore us to Cook 4 days Rashinges then we
was taken of and I had to Stand to the
Bread tray from that til I made the last
bit of the flower and [??]tend to the drawing
gorge wilson [2] baket the bread tom &
baley fetch water & John never got
up til day lite & then I was put on the
Care [3] to gard our bagedge a wensday &
Stood til tha was taken off today at 2

at the damdest place you ever Saw the
40 Ridgement is heare and tha Say that thare
has bin about a 100 of them dide and tha
have alarge brick house for a hosepittel
& tha is about 50 in it and it out stinks
a ded horse I must come to a close hoping
that thes few lines may find you all
well and doing well Rite as Soon as you git
thes few lines So good by fur a while

So Sickley I hant got time to Rite eny more
now I have drawed the best pair of Shoes out
giv my best Respects to uncel Wat &
all in quiring frends Rite back as soon
