My Dear Wife I imbrace the present
oppertunity of Riting you another letter
to let you no that I am well at this time
hoping that thes few lines may find
you all well I Rote you aletter in ansur
to the letter I Resevd from you witch letter
you Resevied last Frida if you got your
I want you to ansur this as soon as
you git it I Shal look fur a letter in ansur
to this tomorrow weak I want you to State
how meny letters you have Reseivd with
money in them I want you to ansur the
last letter you git ever time and
State the date of it & how meny you git
betwen times I havent much to Rite I
have Rote So much & often that I am
Rote most out we are exspecting anuther
fite heare tomorrow the big offerseres
is flying Round Rite Smart we play heare
all the weak and work of a Sunday
tha is 2 hundred hands at work heare
to day it has hapend to my luck to not
have to work eny yet but I doant no how
long it will be til I will but I had as soon
work as to Stand gard I Stood picket
last Wensday in the hardest hail Storm I ever
Saw it blowed down the timber all Round us

out a word I must tell you I got a letter
from hamonds and tha was all well the letter
Stated that Sus and Lize & nancy ann
has Joined the methodes Curch I all so
got a letter from mother & molinda this
morning tha State that tha are all well
as commond Mother is abel to Sit up
paty has bin Sick but is up John gilleland
the first Cavelrey compney he is at
Correnth Johns & Frank & E Stine [1] is
at the Same place in the 18th Ala Regt
Saley & Exey was present when She Rote
& tha put in that tha was glad that I
was a Solder with the Rest & fur me to be
a good Solder and obay my surperiour
offersers and not be grumbeld at by no
man and to Sirve my lord as well as
my contry } if I had bin in there
place if I could not put in nothing but
that I would not Sade eny thing in it
Molinda Ses She hant heard from you Sinc
I left home She States that paper is one
dollar per quire and Cant be got at that
& Sates that She doant get none but
what is give to her I intend to Send
her a Sheat & when you Rite Send her one

tel Margret kircus that I got aletter
from William last tusday and he was
on the mend & then I heard from him
yesterday & he Sayes he will be in Camps
in afew days he Sade that he had not
heard from home cence he left I Rote
him word how all was Rite of & if She
wants to Send him aletter to put it
in mine and I will Send it to him
if he ant heare the mail gose thare
every day but I gess he will be heare
before you git this letter I look for him
to day or Tomorrow he will have the chance
to Ride in but it is no use fur you
or her ether to depend on us you had
better look you out Some old man that
is too old to fite fur we are all in
fur the ware and this damd old Jinrel
woant give you a furlow or a discharge
til you are dead ten dayes and then you
have to prove it tha all hate him as bad
as the devel he keeps a gard all the
time and it is a fine thing fur
he would be very apt to come up
mising some time you must not
take no insult at my Jests fur tha are
all in Cold ernest you bleave it
