Camp Mcdonnal June 8 1862
Dear Frends I seat my self this evening to let you
that I well at this time hoping those few lines will
you all in good helth I promised to rite to you and
I hant had the chanse but I will rite you all and
let you know we have Some sicknes in our company
we have two men sick Georg Tommason is very bad
off and William Briley has got the mesel So sargent
Long ses and Tommson has got a hurting in his
back and there is more that is sick but not So bad
there was Six reported sick this morning we ar in one
hundred miles of the yankes we are so bad scard
that our harts is in our through [1] the yankeys is
in then [2] miles of chatnooga they are looking for fite
thare every day and we ar expcting to be cald
thare every day I there sick yestere day going
to atlanter I saw Jack Bagel [3] and John
was very Sick going thare and James Loftis was sick
all going to keepe the yankeys from taking them
I all So Saw five hundred yankeys on the care [4] last
that was took prisenors and they was going
to atlanter so James I would like for you to come
out me and Stay all knight with us beef

captin Chitwood tothe compney I or else
I shal not get them So be sure to rite to me
