Self this moning to Rite
you a few lines to let you no
I am not wel nor hant
Ben sense you went of[f]
tho I Keep up and a bout
hoping these few lines
ma come safe to hand
and find you well and

Come home if you an git
any chance as soon as you
can I have nothing new
to Rite to you that is good
we heard to day the yankeys
had burnt up gansvill
And Clarksvill I Dont no
whether it is So or not
We hear a heep from the
ware and nothing good of
late we hav had a heep
of Rane sense you left
home we hant cut the wheat
yet it ant quit[e] Ripe
