the oppor tunity of droping

am better than I have bin

I hant got much nuse to rite
at present wea are a sea ing
hard times wea get tolerab[?] [1]
plenty to eat such as it is
Corn bred & bacon & beaf we[a?]
are a sea ing har[d] times wea are
on dutey every d[a]y or nite
wea have bin in the ditche[s?]
18 days & wea have to eat and
sleep rite in the ditches al[l?]
the time hit rand nite be
fore last so hard that

Cab Chitwood got Shot

I was glad to her from you
& here that you was well
& if you need any money

now whether this will goe
threw or not rite as son as this
