Atlanta August the 22 1864
well Frankey as I rot yestidy and
did not start my letter I will drop
you another lin to let you know
that I am still complaining not
improveing fast but I am in
hops it will not be long till
I will be well if I dont get
no back set I dont get nothing
to eat that suts me if I cold
I think that I cold eat
Frankey I have nothing good
to wright at the presan there
is som talk of us geting to
go home be for long and
some think that it will be
sow I dont now how it will
be I woll [1] like for it to be 
Sow as it seems like it
has bin a long time sens
I saw you and the longer
I stay the wors I want to
get hom and stay

like to know what we get to
eat we get som bacon and
som beef and corn bread
and som times pees and
rise but not anuff of
if I was harty som of the
boys compains about not
geting a nuff fat I cant
eat half what I draw but
I hoap I will be abel to eat
all that I can get in a fiew
day Frankey you must do
the best that you can till
I get hom you now that I
woll like to be at hom with
you the best in the world but
it is sow that I cant and
and I wa[n]t us both to live sow
that if we dont have the pleasure
of meting on erth that we may
