 kind and affectionate letter
of the 15th ulimo, and was
 glad to hear from you
 that all were well, I
 was also glad to here
 from my Brother through
you I have hea[r]d from him
 through another source but
I do not know wether to
credit it or not I wrote
to him by last nigh[t] s
mail and as soon as I here
from him I will write to
 you and let you know
how we both are I am
 a thousand times obliged to
 you for your present of
 socks but have not
 received them yet It is
 not worthwhile for you
 to send any more socks
 [page 2]
as I have met with the
 good luck to supply
 myself and have a plenty
 left for my Brother I
 am still remaining in
 the Farmvill Hospittal
 my health beeing rather
 bad to return to the
 hardships of Camp life
 I am however not Idle
 the Dr has appointed
 me assistant nurse
 oweing to the great
 number of sick in the
 hispittal the task is
 not very hard though
 very confineing I have
 to be up right smart
 at night but donot
 have much to do in
 the day oweing to the
 assistance of those that
 are nearlly well. I want
you to answer this as soon
 [page 3]
 as you possibly can Give
my love to my sister and
 tell he[r] nothing would affect
 me more pleasure than to
 receive a letter from her
give my love and a kiss
 to my little Brother and
the Baby and be sure to
 write how they are
Give my love to all of the
 young Ladies and tell
 them that if the good
 luck is mine to return
 safely home after we
 have gained our indipendence
that some one of them will
have to make up her mind
 to become Mrs Everett
Be sure to write as soon
 as you receive this &
 believe me as ever your
 affectionate son
