February 10th 1863
Dear ma
I take my pen in hand
this morning to write you afew lines
to informe you that Iam well at this
time and Ihope this letter will
find you and the children Enjoying
the same blessing I am in better
health at this time than I have
Ever bin in my lif my Weight
is 160 lbs that is more than I Ever
Expected to Weigh Brother is in goud
Health too he is Out on Picket now
but he will Come in this Evening
thair is no talk of fighting here
at this time but I cant tell when we
may go into it I Do hate to go into
afight but that is what I Came out
here to Do and I think that I have
Done my Part of that But I will
have to Do more yet Capt Fudge
Says that I am the best Soldir
in the Company that is the way
I like to here him talk I never have
bin on Extry Deauty yet and I dont
think that I Ever will Capt Fudge
is going to give me afurlough
to go home I cant tell when I will
get it I dont care how Soun I get
it Eather for I tiell you that I want
to See you all worse than Ever
I wanted to See the girls it has
bin 19 teen months Since I Saw
you all and it Semes to me
like it has bin 4 or 5 years,

Send me a prs of Pants Jeanes
Pants Just like you made for
Rilay and Brother wants some
too I want you to Patch the Seat
before you Send them I need Some Pants
verry Bad for I cant get any from the
government I herd that you was going
to move Doun to Doley I want to know
if that is Sow if you Do you must
write to me and let me know

houdy for me I want to know
Whether you have sold my Pistol
or not if you can get $75 dollars
