August 18th 1863
Dear ma
It is with the gratest pleasure that I take
this oppunity this Evening to ancer youre
kind and affectionate letter which I
have Just Recived and I read it with
a great Pleasure I was more than glad to
here from you and to here that you was
all well this leavs me and Brother both
in verry goud health and I hope that
this may find you and the rest of the
family Enjoying the Same I have not
got any nuse worth writing to you at this
time Only that we air having a goud
long rest we air having a great
Revival here in my Brigade and I am
glad to See it going on I hope it may
accomplish much goud and that many
Sols may bee convirted to god we have
Some verry fine wether at this time
it is fine wether for fighting we air
Expecting another fight here at this
Place but I am in hops that we will
not have much more of it to do

Captain Fudge is not here at this time
to Send you a Showing for that money
So I will get him to Send it to you
before long I will tell you the Reason
that Brother Dose not write the paper
Cost so much and he says that I can
write for him in my letters you
Stated in youre letter that you wanted
me to tell you if I had herd from
Ransome and his Brothers I have herd
from Ransome and Louis but have
not herd a word from Joesleph I think
that he was kild but we could not
find him I hope [1] to get the Dead of[f]
from the battle field but I did not
see any thing of Joe Ransome and Louis
is in the hands of the yankies but I do
not no where they air at I think that
they will bee Exchanged before long
Well I will bring my letter to aclose
by asking you to write Soon Nothing
mor at Preasent I Still Remain
