Camps Near Sweet Water Tenn
November 9th 1863
Dear ma
I take my pen in hand this
morning to Ancer youre kind and
affectionate letter that Came to me
this morning and I was more than
glad to here from you and to here
that you was all well but I was
verry Sorry that you had had
Such alonely time Since I left
I will Assure you that you have
not had half as lomesome a time
Since I left as I have had for I want
to Go home worse than I Ever did since
I have bin in Sirvice you Said in
youre letter that you wanted me to
tell you if I got the Boxes all through
they air all in Dalton ga I had them
Expresst thair I went to the Rail Road
Agnt and he Said that I could not
Bring them any further than Dalton
Col Little has Gone after all the
Boxes that Belongs to my Regt and he

will bring all the Boxes that is thair I want
you to Send me a bag of Dride Frute
and Some Red Peper and Some ginger
Cakes by the first Chance that you get
and I want Some more Socks if it lies
in youre Power to Send them to me
I have got the Papers to get that money
and I will get it the next time that
we Draw money and I Shall keep it
untill I get a goud chance to Send
it to you I Shall not Send it by
mail for I am afraid to Send it
in the mail you must Direct
your letters to Knoxville Tenn
as we have moved from chickamauga
We air in East Tenn now and
it is Powerful Coald up here you
must give all my friends my
Best Respects and Recive alarge
Portion for youre Self this leaves
me well at Preasent and I hope that
this will find you the Same give
the children my love and kiss them
both for me nothing more at
