Camps Near midway Tennessee
March 24th 1864
Dear ma
It is with Great Pleasure that
I take my pen in hand this
morning for the Purpose
of writing you afew lines
to let you no that I am well
at this time and I hope this
will find you and the
children all in the best of
health I have no nuse to
write to you at this time
Only we air fed on Oats
we dont get flour nor meal
but we get Oats to Eate I am
thinking that Our little
Confed is Verry Near Gone
Up Well ma them boys that
went home has Got back
and they have bin

not herd what the Punishment
is it will not hurt them
much I dont think at least
I hope it will not ma I have
bin looking for aletter from
you for Several days but
I have looked in vain I
want you to write to me
and tell me all the nuse
Kiss the Sweat little Babe for me and al So
Buck and tell me how many
Goats you have I want you
to Save all the Skins of
the goats that you Kill
and take Special care of
my Shoe tools well I will
have to Close Direct youre
letter to Greenville Tenns
Long Streets Corps
