May 4 1864
Dear Mother
Itake my pen in hand this
Morning to Ancer your kind letter that came to
me yesterday it found me and Brother Both in
verry good health I am in hops this will Reach and
find you all in the Best of health, though you was
Sick at the time you rote to me I have no
nuse to write to you at this time we air in camps
and Seeing afine time we air geting Plenty to
Eate Sugar and coffee Rice and Peas and Beesides
all that we air Close to the Oald 3rd ga and
we can See Each other Every day I was over to the
3rd yestirday and Spent that day with the Boys
and had afine time with F. W. P . J. Boss I did
Speak of geting trasfurd to the 3rd ga Rgt
But I Cant do it Capt Fudge Dose not want me
to leave the company it made him mad to
think that I was trying to get from his Company
I told him why it was that I wanted to leave the
Company and that is this the rest of the Boys air
Nearly all the time cursing and I Cant Enjoy my
Self I have wrote all I no what to write
and I will Bring my letter to a Speedy
Close By Sending you my Best Respects
Pleas Write Soon as you get this and
let me no how you air geting along

Dear ma, we air now verry near in to afight
we may get in to it before the Sun goes
Down, and I thought I would try and write
you afew more lines I am Just as willing to go
in it as Iwill Ever bee and if the good
Lord Sees Proper to take me from this
world you will Pleas take car of what I have
got at home this may bee the last letter
I will Ever write to you but I hope I will
not get hurt in this Expected fight
you will Pleas Excuse me for not writing
any more, I will close you must not forget

May 7th 1864

Dear ma
as the fight has bin to day and is yet going on
I will write you afew more lines to informe you
that I am not Kild yet But the yanks came
verry Near Killing me I was wounded in the head
again and I am now at the Brigade Hospital
and I Expect to go off from hear to morrow
to the Genl Hospital and if I get thair
I will write to you and let you know how
I am geting on I will tell you who was wounded in
my Company this morning in the Earley part
of the knight thair is W H Dollar m m mashburn
and my Self I would write more But my
head hurts me verry bad and I will bring my
letter to aclose by saying good by till I hear from
you again I remain as Ever yorse
