Richmond Va Sept 2 1861
Dear Sis It is with pleasure
that I now take my pen in hand to
write you et few lines Just to let
you now how we are all get ing
Along finely ecept some of our men
are sick I have been sick my self
since I have been here but I am
well at presant and hope this to
find you all the same I am now
evry day right Among the measels
and expect them evry day If I have the
least headache I exppect the measels
John Rodgers has got them now he
has been very bad of[f] with them
Benj sprained his ankle the other
Day standing garde I tell you what
it is me and Benj and Oliver Milton
and E M Wimberly had to stand sentinal
24 hours two on and too four of[f] and
[It?] was raining and was as wet as it could bee
I did not mind it till night came on
and then it give us fits shore we looksed
next morning like we had been Siting
