Camp iverson January the 30th 1862
Dear sister I recieved your kind letter of the
25th stating that the family ware all well
except your self it affords me grate pleasur
to hear that you are all well except yourself
I am ever redy to symphathise with those whom
the hand of providence has seen fit to afflict
I am well at this time and all the company
Jenerally thare are some few of the boys sick but
nothing of a serious nature thare is a grate talk
of a fight at Savannah but we cannot tell
when it will bee I was glad to hear from
James and Benj and to hear that they ware
both well when you wright to them but
give them my best respects and tell them
not to forgit to put thare truste in God
and to remember that we all remember them
at a throne of Gods grace who is able to comfort
the soldier onth fielde of battle as well as
those who are at home I see more cause for
religion now than I ever have befor religion
is almoste for gottan here it is almost

as bad hear as a heathense country we have not
had preaching hear but once this year and that
was a verry short sermond nearly all the regment
plays cardes i think at leaste two thirds of
them I have have not had any notion of playnig
cards my self nor donte intende to have I still
pray to hold oute faith full to the end and
I wante you and all the friendes to pray for
me and for me to return home saif a gain
the williams voluntiers are in walkins brigade
aboute four miles from us we have not been
down to see them I have not had the chance to
gow to see them yet when you wright to me
I wante you to wright me where Jim and Ben
are and what poste office to wright to as
I would like to wright to them you must
give Eliz and all the family my love and
relieve the laim your self direct your letter to
campe iverson 5th regmente stat troops Co B in
car of Captin Shewmake your affectionate
