Camp Iverson February the 21st 1862
Dear sister I take my pen in hand to let
you now that I am well and all the company
Generally we have som cases of mumps in our
Company we had a deth in this regimente on the
night of the 17th thare is but verry little sickness
in the regmente at this time we have two or three
men in our company that praetendes to bee
sick all the time and they look hearty er and
way more than they ever did before I have
nothing in the way of news to wright we all
went down two miles below Savannah last
weeke to build brest work and staid five
days we exspect to move down thare to stay
all the time but I dont know when we will
gow the williams volunteers are pretty well
all sick Mr ham ses that Sam Bearrow is very
sick and Jim Rowland ses he thinks that he
will bee verry apt to die unless he is relieved
soon the yankeys are still below savannah
we dont know when they will attack us
thare is about sixteen thousand condeferate

soldiers and some nine or ten thousan State
troopes near savannah wating in all som
twenty five thousand thare is several campanys of
artilery among them I am in hopes that if the do
make an attack that they will meete a good shower
of balls we have had preaching two or three
times for the last month but thare are but verry
few that will gow to hear preaching thare has
been prayer meeting afew times at the church
and of a night but it is so an cold song we are
are faring wors for something to eat than we
have yet we get beef but it is verry sorry you
must give my love to Jim and Ben and tell
them they must remember thare Creator in
the days of they youth and they must not fogit
those who promised to pray for them in thare
absence though they are far away from home and
friendes yit thare names are remembered at a
thone of grace by [?] as who mad that promis
you must give my love to all the family and friends
and he him the gaim my heavens blessings reste upon us all
