Dear Mother I embrace the opper
tunity of droping you a few lines
just to let you no I am in joying
good helth and hope those few
lines will find you injoying
the same Dear Mother I have
naglected write ing to you a
long time I have not bin with
the company in 3 weaks un til
to day I was Sent to Peters
burg after bagage for the legion
an I braught it to Richmond
and I was left at the depot
to gard it So I Stade with it
3 weaks and paid my bord at
$150 a day and my monney all [1]
give out And I left it and
went to the legion be Sides
I had my carpet Sack Stole
from me with a bout $40.00
worth in it and while I was
thair the battle of Sevnspines [2]
was faught an I Saw
hundreds of the wonded all the
hospet als was full

night it is imposible for us
to get a furlo but evry one
that was wonded and was able
to go home and wanted a furlo

and 3 packs of anvellops in

others and thes is my 4th
letter also two dolalrs worth
of stamps and I have none
of the Stamps to go on my
letters I never went in

what I got the worst of
