 Deare Father an mother I will drop you a few lins  
 to inform you that I am well and I hope this may  
 find you the same  I have nothing new to write to you  
 only we are looking for a grate battle every day but I cant  
 tell any thing a bout it  it may come or it may not  
 I cant tell  I Pray god that I may servive it tho I  
 may fall in the storm but I trust to god the home of  
 earth I may never see again the music of home voices  
 may never again greet my ears but I have a fathers  
 home in heaven where suffering an sin shall never  
 more be either felt of feard  Lord teach me as a  
 pilgrim here to desire this better country maney distane  
 an beloved relations and friends are now thinking  
 on me the reflection cheers and revives my Spirit  
 A mightier than human friend is doing the Same  
 An eye in heaven is watching me and a heart in  
 heaven is feeling for me  The Lord is very pitiful and  
 of tender mercy  I will Say in conclusion give my  
 love to all of the famley an receive a potion  
 for youre Selves  I cant write much for I have

 body is mad with Martha for reporting them

 you Sent to me by W H Little an it found  
 me well an I hope this may find you an the  
 baby the same  my deare I am in the most  
 trubble a bout you in the world but I hope  
 it will come out rite yet  I have Pertishioned to  
 the genrel to go home to take these men but I  
 dont no yet wheather I will Proseade or not an  
 I want you to keepe it a Profoun secret  I had  
 wrote to mother before henry come on the  
 other Side of this Paper an tell mother that  
 I am under many obligations to her for the  
 tobacco that She Sent to me  my deare I have  
 not got my wages yet but jest as Soon  
 as I get them I will send you some money  
 I want you to See Capt wood an when any  
 of these men goes to the army make him  
 give you a sertificate for you are the cause
