Lynch burg July 6th 1862 Dear Carie I am not well but
So I can bee up mose of the time I am in the hos
pital in lyonchburg I hav bin hear about ten dayes
I wrote to you about three dayes ago I recon you
hav got it by now I hav had the measels vry bad
then I tuok coal from it the dr blisterd my back
vry bad but it is getting well oh carie if I
had of had you to dress it for me it would of
bin so guod I feal som beter this morning but
I feal vry weak carie I dont know what to write
thir is nothing hear hardley but Sick Solges and
wonded ones I hav not heard from william & Sam
Sens I left home if you hav heard let me know
if you pleas & whar Dr Smith is Carie I hav not
heard from you sens I left Savannah I know you
wrote to me but I mov so much I nevr got them

if I evr get to my regiment I recon I will get
them if the post master dos his duty he will
send them to the regiment Carie I am very
sory you forgot to put in your little testament
I mis it so much I hav to borro when I can Carie
to day is Sunday I would giv a thousan dolars to
bee clear of this waked war & bee with you &
the children to day if I had nothing only what
I hav on my back & was at home with you
I would bee beter Satisfid I would bee wiling
to Sculful the balans of my lif for a living
I Saw John Pee[k] day befor yesterday he was getting
well I have not heard from my regiment sens
I left it it went on towars Ricmond I expect it
was in the big fite that came of[f] afew dayes back
thir a grate meny wonded solgers in this place

Carie I must clos write as soon as you get this
& give me all the nuse I want to hear from
you so bad it would do me mor goo[d] to hear
from you then any thing in the world

Carie tell you par if he can hire a substute
to do so if he plases hire hire a man ovr thuty
five so I well be clear mabe he can hire William
Lewis if I was to bee Sick six monts thy would [not]
giv me afurlo nor discharg thay wont give
furlo nor discharg know way I see men
with ther leg Shot of[f] & thay would discharg
them So you may know this is a hard plase
