yours of the 18 of sepember came to hand yesterday
I was more then glad to hear from you but was
vry sory to hear of so meny deaths esspely that
dear brother of yours one whome I dearly lov but
I hope he is beter off he was a good boy thes lines
leave me in beter health then I hav bin in tuo
month I hav about got ovr the Janders I waid today
I waide 1.40 lbs we hav bin restin about tuo
weaks I hav just eate diner what you recon we
had we had bater caks fried in taler I thorte they
wer vry good you ought to see me cuokin I
can bake fine bisket & fry buef me & william
Burke has a fine time cuokin when we get anything
to cuok J Peak was detail at the potomac to

winchester to waite to bee exchains John came

I hav not herd from Sam sens I rote to you
write how much corn & cotton we will make
how the potatoes & pinders ar also how the cows
& hoges ar & how meny hogs thir is give me all
the nuse at large I recon you will get tired
of such letter as this thir is know use for me
to write any thing about the war you know
mor about it than I du you get papers to

on gard yesterday & last night I feal sleapy
you must excues bad writing & speling
