York Town Va February the 12th 1862
Dier Cosen it is with pleasure this morning
that I take my Seat and pen in han to drop
you a few lines to let you know that I and
brother is well hoping theas few lines may find
you all well and enjoying the Same like blessing
of god I have nothing of much important
to rite to you more than I resieved a few lines
from you and was glad to here from you and to
here that you was all well Soproney you wanted
to know whether I had Saw any prety girls here
or not I have Saw Some but not as prety as the
georgia girls I begen to want to see the girles
that I left back there I want you to Speak a
good word for me to the girls tell them to holde
fast to the willows tell ar boys get back wee
hant had narry fite yet tell Brinkley I want
him to rite to me tell him J W Monkey [1] is a
living yet and is as lazy he is So lazy
that he cant hardly get out to doo his buizness
he is got the bee gout he is a bout to get a
dis charge I want you all to rite to mee as Soon
as you can there ant much nwes here to rite
onely hard times Some think peas wll
bee made soon so no more William .C. Simmons
