Dalton Ga } Dear Companion it
is with Great pleasure that I Seat
my Self to write you a few lines
to let you know I am well and
I hope these few lines may come
Safe to hand and find
you all well I received your
kind letter which was
dated the 1st of this instent [1]
and I was glad to hear from
you I was Sorry that your
mother was Sick I am glad
you have got Some fruit
trees Sot out I want you
to let mr Brock and
zack have your land to
tend for the third of
the corn you can let them
have all the fodder I want
you to take good care of
your Self and dont Expose

I will get to come home Some
time we have all Been drawing
for furloughs But I hant had
the luck yet to draw nare
one I hope I will get hom
some time yet the Reasen
I hant writ no Sooner is
BeCause I have Been on gard
and other Duty So much I
hant had no time to write I
hope you will Excuse me for
not writting no sooner we
have Some Corn meal
and Bacon I was Sorry I did
not get them Rashions you
had fixt up for me I want
you to write Soon and often
and write all the Good news
you know I am powerfull
out of heart Everway way if
you want a Silver Ring write Back
to me and I will Send you one
