Goldsboro Oct 27th 1864
Dear Brothers H H. & G W. Bowen
I take this oppertunity to Drop you a
few Lines as we have to Lay over here till
nine ock to knight. conscripted and on
our way to camp Homes. and very sorry
to say it. tho I am in tolerable Good health
at this time and Left my family and yours
all in reasonable health Last sunday when
we Left home and I hope when I hear from
you that you may be Enjoying the same Great
blessin I have no news of importance
more than they have taken Every man out of
our country Except malitia officers & magistrates
Every detail man, Every blacksmith, and miller
is now on there way to camp homes no one
Left at all between 17. & 50 years of age
the Senior reserves are yet at plymouth
The Enemy on friday before we left
home Burned all the Bridges from Bath
to Leachville and I understand they have
Been through Hyde and done Likewise
You must me as soon as you hear from me
again. I can not tell you now where to Direct to me
