My Dear brother I
seat my self to let you know
that we are all well at
present hoping these feu lines
may find you the same I received
your letter the 4 of January and
was glad to hear from you
once more we have looked for you
until we had give you our but
I hope to see you before long
the times is qiet here at this
time the yankeys is knot been out
here yet and i hope they wont
come i was at plymouth last
saturday and the time is still
their they have torn up the
towen they have torn up all of
my houses on the river you would
knowt know the towen if you
was in it hardley it looks so
bad they have been up the river
twice but they did knot get
to rainbow they lost two
steamers and two barges they
ware blowed up by torpedoes
they took the men as they went
up the country and put them on
the foremost boat to find the
torpedoes or to bee blowed up
they bernt some houses as
they went up they lost some
few men that is about all they
done onley they took all the
horses they get your
famaly is well except cornelia

she has been verry sick with the
rhumetism I think she is better
i think the rest of the folks is
well all of the folks is well
about here they all wants to
see you verry bad Martha got
a letter from langley yesterday
he wrote that he was afaring verry
hard he was as well as could
bee exspected he is in virginia
he belong to the 17 Regement
if you want to wright to
him direct your letters to Mr
