Dear farther & all I Seate my
Self this evning to let you
heare from me I am well
al But a Bad coal and I
hope when thes few lines
Cums to hand thay may
find you al well I tell
you we have suen hard
times for three we have
Bin laing out like hougs
we lis in the woods
on the ground and Marchis
nearly evry day I got that
tobaco and Butter you sent
to me By John Malone
I have not had time to
write till now sence Calvin
Jones started home till now

see you all I think I
can cum in 1 Mont or too
though I dont no when
I can cum But I will
cum the first chance I
get I receved you letter
to day and was glad
to heare you all was well
I would be glad to see
you all I could tell you
a heape a Buut a soldiers
fare we have bin in sight
of the yankers 5 or 6
times we have bin in 1
hundred yards of them
I must cum to a clous for
this time So I remain your
