Martingburg September th 25

dear Wife I Seat my self this
eavning to inform that I am
well hopng these few lines may
find you all well I recievd your
kind letter yester eavning and I
was glad to hear that you
was all well you Said you hadent
heard anything from heglar Summet
Since the 11 of August I can tell
you that I Saw monrow grice
on the 19 of this instant and he
told me he come safe through the
manasses battle and was complan
ing of being Sick and he fell back
in the rear of the army and he
Said he did not know what had become
of him but I exspect he got to
Som house and he cant Send know

from thear I can tell you that we
left rapped an [1] Station on the firt
day of September and went on to
mayryland then come back to V A
and then we we to harpers ferry
then we left the ferry and went
back to mayryland and then we
got in A fight but I came ot Safe
but I never Saw it rain bullets
before I can tell you that we
have A hard time of it for we
have traveld Since the first of
Sep tell the last 3 days we have
been A resting A few days I dont
know whear we go to from hear I want
you to write direct your letter to
Winchester VA So I will come to
A close by Saying write soon
